My favorite cousin Brendan and his wife and kids live about an hour from Vegas so I decided to spend Thanksgiving with them for a change. I am flying alone but I am excited! I never have gone anywhere on vacation with my pump before so I couldn't think of a better place to ask for advice then here. I live in MA so Arizona is 3 hrs behind us so I am unsure if I should even change the time on my pump and if in the airport I should take it off going through the medal detector? Has it been a while yet again. I admit , I read peoples blogs but I never write sometimes I just don't know what to write about. Diabetes wise I am doing ok. My blood sugars have been kind of up and down but I have been sick so that is most likely why. At my last endo appointment I got my A1C done and it was 7.1 so I was happy with that but always room for improvement.

I am really excited because a group of friends any myself have recently started playing volleyball every Tuesday night. It is so much fun I had forgotten how much I missed it from high school. It's a good work out especially since I haven't been going to the gym in ages! I don't know about any one else but with the pump I still haven't figured out how to control my BS while working out. It's frustrating because when I go I just want to work out and not stop and check my BS. Lets all hope that the CGM will be covered soon!

Go SOX! I am a huge Sox fan and I am so excited they won and will be moving one step closer to the World Series!!!!!

Pump and the Beach?

OK so I admit it... I keep reading most of the blogs out there and never comment and never write myself. I need to change that. Everything diabetes wise is going well knock on wood. School is over for the summer thank god! Although I am taking one class.

Warm weather is upon us and I am such a beach person but this summer is different I am on the pump so I am asking for some advice for pump care at the beach. I don't want to get it all sandy and I don't really want to disconnect all day although I could just bolus every once and a while... now I am rambling but ideas would be awesome!

Diabetic?

I kept forgetting my user name and password but I finally figured it out again! Anyway....

I was having this debate with a co-worker a few weeks ago. How do you feel about the word diabetic? I don't remember how it started but I had never really thought about it. When we were talking about it he made a good point he said we don't say that someone with cancer is a caneric (don't know if that's how you would spell it). Since then I have tried not using the word diabetic and it's hard to change what you usually say. But I have stoped using it. Just thought I would ask your opions on that because no one would know better then the bloggers :)

It's been way to long

It has been such a long time sine I wrote last. Let me just say as I am writing the Sox just won 4-1 go Paps! I am beyond excited about the new season!

I will admit I haven't written in a while because not a lot has gone on that I thought was blog worthy. I have been lurking though with the blogs, and I enjoy reading them because I can relate.

So I went to my endo today... Last A1C was 7.0 which was down from starting the pump. Pre- Pump it was 8.9 so when I had a 7.0 I was very pleased because it wasn't even 3 months of being on the pump yet. So anywho today I was actually excited to go and the results were... 6.5 so I am quite pleased , 6.5 I think is the lowest it has ever been.

Now that I have my diabetes under faierly good control , next step is to go back to the gym and loose a few pounds before summer.

I met with the rep from Mini Med (wicked cute by the way) and saw the new CGM and WOW what an improvement , I am under good control but I would love to get on. Hopefully someday soon it will be covered by insurence.

Has anyone tried the new green apple glucose tabs? I can't find them in stores but found them online but I dont really want to order them unless I hear they are good.

I hope to write more often!

Ok i guess i will do anything but my homework...

Put your music player on shuffle.Press forward for each question.Use the song title as the answer to the question.
Wide range of music!

What does next year have in store for me?Upside Down - Jack Johnson

What's my love life like?I knew I loved you before I met you- Savage Garden

What do I say when life gets hard?Build me up buttercup- The Temptations

What do I think of on waking up?Calling All Angels- Train

What song will I dance to at my wedding?Move Along- The All American Rejects (ohh i dont think go)... ok so i wasn't satisfied so i wanted to see the next song... I am the youth program assistant / a bunch of other things. Anyway as much as I LOVE working there it has it downsides. If I haven't started working there I wouldn't have even thought about going on the pump and for that i am grateful because I am in such better control and feel so much better. But on the flip side of everything it has opened my eyes up a lot more. I knew diabetes was serious if you don't take care of yourself but even if you do you can still run into complications. Working at there has opened up my eyes to how serious diabetes really is. Diabetes is the topic almost all day long for 5days a week and sometimes 6 days I guess it has freaked me out that it can be inevitable that you will run into problems. I even changed my BS goal from 120 to 100 because I want to be in better control.

I always say that my dad is a "walking time bomb" because he is Type1 Diabetic and doesn't take care of himself at all but then it got me to thinking that arn't we all "walking time bombs" and his is just already LIT? I try not to let diabetes get to me but it just hit me recently. And i don't mean to be really negative but no one else besides you fellow diabetics would understand how I'm feeling, because i know we all have these days. Oh yeah and i promise that there will be a up beat post someday :)... I already feel better after letting that out.

blahh

Ive been in this blah mood for the past few days and I have no idea how to get out of it. It just seems like I am sick of everything. Sick of diabetes , sick of school ( eventhough it was the first day today), sick of everything... I am in a rut.. thats an understatement .. I dont know if it was because last year around this same time this date actually ... my boyfriend of over 2years told me out of nowhere that there was "someone else" and eventhough i am completly over it now god trust me i am so much happier and i have met some amazing people since then ... it still upsets me and i think because it happened around this time.. to make matters worse he started going out with this other girl not only a month after he dumped me but on my birthday Valentines day... what a day .. i am a beleiver that everything happens for a reason so it all happend for a reason... anyway sorry i needed to get that out... it snowed today i love the snow its so pretty... but its freezing.... it's been a LONG day so bed time

Remember Me?

Finally I got this to work. So much has happened since the last post. Christmas and New Years has come and gone. Let me try and think what has happened.

My pump broke on Christmas Eve. I was changing my site and it said motor error. So I called MiniMed and there was nothing we could do to fix it. Since it was Christmas Eve they were closed on Christmas and wouldn't reopen until Tuesday meaning I wouldn't get my pump until Wed. You don't realize how much you rely on the pump it made me realize how much I really do love it. A little piece of advice if you don't already do it.. write down your basils so when the pump wont let you look at them you are golden.

In other pump news I started the week of Thanksgiving so it hasn't even been 3months and before the pump my A1C was 8.8 (somewhere around there) and NOW!!! it's 7.0 yay!! I was so excited i cant wait to go back and see how much more its gone down. Plus i cant get over how i feel 100 times better then before.

In work news we just got a awesome grant with a lot of money so i am golden so i don't have to worry about not being kept on for money issues.

I'm back :)

Freezing!!!

So finally I created a blog! YAYY!! Just a few things to warn you about...

I can not spell to save my life so work with me spelling was not one of my Strong points at all! So as you might have already read I just started the pump the week of Thanksgiving and let me tell you did my little fingers work a lot that day ... had a bit to much pie! But i counted everything and didn't have one high blood sugar all day long... GO ME! It's so funny I get all excited when I have a good blood sugar any my non- diabetic friends don't understand the happiness! Anywho getting back to my pump it's a MiniMed 522 I have become very attached to it already. It feels like I have had it forever.. good i guess. Oh yeah so getting to my point... just in case you ha vent realized that I jump around to different topics... i need to try not to do that ..
